In Reception 1 this week, the students not only learned all about knights and castles, but were also knighted by Sir Bernard!
It was a very busy week. On Monday, Ms. Kristina talked about native Americans, the Hopi Indians from northern Arizona. The Hopi people believe in and dress up as Kachinas, which represent various spirits among their people. We got to color Kachina pictures.
The rest of the week, we learned a lot about die Ritter with Mr. Bernard. We made shields and dressed up as knights. Mr. Bernard showed us what a knight needs to succeed. We watched videos with Ms. Kristina, where we learned more, and we all worked on a knight packet with letters to practice writing, mazes, and pictures to color.
On Friday, the Tigers worked on reading and memorizing K words. In math, they learned about counting euro coins up to 20 cents. The Horses colored different shapes. Then, in the afternoon, a real Schmied came to our classroom to talk about making swords and what smiths used to do for knights and castles. Reception 2 joined us for this presentation.
This week, we also said goodbye to Miss Meghan, last year's Reception 1 teacher, whose last day was Friday. We will all miss her at MIS!!!
