Autumn & Firehouse (September 24-28, 2012)

This week in Reception 1, we talked about autumn/fall: windy breezes, falling leaves, different colors, and weather getting colder. We talked about different fall holidays, and the months in autumn. We made fish out of fallen leaves and feathers, and we cut out pictures of things that happen in fall.

We also traveled to the Viernheim Firehouse, where Helmut told us about what causes fires, what fires need to keep burning, and how the fire department works. We got to climb into the fire truck! Before we visited the firehouse, we learned about dialing 112 for emergencies like fire and accidents, and 110 for the police, in case we need help. Some of us practiced writing 112.

We are almost done reading the book Charlotte's Web.
Next week, we will make popcorn and watch the movie!

On a walk to find signs of autumn

We saw leaves changing colors

We also found chestnuts!

And we stuffed as many as we could into
our pockets.

Our fish made out of leaves and feathers, which now hand above the office.

Love!

Love!

Love.
