First Week of School (September 4-7)

This first week of school, Reception 1 students did different activities with their names, including a name puzzle, and writing their names. We reviewed letters of the alphabet, and numbers 0 through 10. We made name tags for our work portfolios, played with clay and made different shapes, and we sang some of our favorite songs. Our new Reception 1 song is easy to sing, fast, and fun. We had a busy, full week.

Reading Time

One daily feature in our schedule is Reading Time, consisting of at least 15 minutes right after morning snack. All children look at books, and teachers read stories to some of the children as well. It is a quiet time but important for literacy. The "new" Reception 1 room has a designated reading area and library, with two bookcases, a sofa, and plenty of pillows.

Everybody reads!
